This week in the Baby Room, the children took part in a fun and meaningful sensory activity designed to support their personal, social and emotional development.
We placed individual photos of each child in a tray and covered them with brightly coloured powder. The children were encouraged to explore the tray, using their hands to uncover the hidden faces. It was such a joy to watch their reactions as they discovered themselves and their friends — with lots of pointing, smiling, and excited sounds.
To build on this, we introduced mirrors so the children could look at their reflections and compare them with the photos they found. This helped promote early self-awareness, while also encouraging communication and social interaction.
