Fine Motor Skills Development

Today in the baby room, the children enjoyed exploring a fun fine motor skills activity. We provided cotton buds and empty glove boxes, and the babies practised their coordination by carefully posting the cotton buds into the small holes. This encouraged them to use their fingers and hands with control, strengthening their fine motor muscles.
We also set out egg boxes and colourful lollipop sticks for the babies to explore. They enjoyed pushing the sticks into the holes, concentrating hard as they worked out how to make them fit. These simple but engaging activities supported the babies’ hand–eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and perseverance all while having lots of fun!
