This week in the baby room, the children enjoyed a fun activity that helped them practice their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. We set up a simple but engaging task: feeding homemade cardboard animals with oats!
We created animals with cut out mouths and their goal was to carefully feed oats into the animals using spoons and their fingers. Some of the children were just starting to figure out how to hold the spoons, while others were already able to scoop up a little more confidently. It was a great opportunity for them to practice their spoon control, which is an important skill for mealtimes.
At first, some of the little ones were more focused on using their fingers to drop the oats in, but as they kept trying, they began to try to use the spoons more effectively. They were so determined, especially when trying to line up the spoon with the mouth of the animals!
The best part was seeing their excitement as they "fed" the animals, some even giggling as they made the oats fall in. This activity not only gave them a chance to work on coordination but also let them explore a fun sensory experience with the texture of the oats.
