Making Paint
This week in preschool we have been exploring our creative side, we have been looking into colours and the brightness and darkness of them. We also learned that paint used to be made out of very natural ingredients like turmeric and squashed beetles! The children were very fascinated by this Information and wanted to see if they could make their own paints using materials we have found around the nursery. For the colours we used berries, turmeric, coffee beans and tea leaves and broken chalk pieces, then to help them form a paste we used shaving foam, pva glue, and white paint to add to our ingredients. We got out the pestal and mortars to grind the ingredients down and then added the wet ingredient to help the paint form, we made a prediction that the chalk would be the brightest and the berries would be the worst as they would be too watery. The chalks did form a nice paste very well but the turmeric came out very runny! However the children loved painting with the different textured colours and thoroughly loved the experience!
