Mathematical Sorting

This week in preschool the children took part in some mathematical activities, which involved two parts. The first activity was number colour coding on a big sheet of paper, their task was to first identify the colours that the numbers were coloured in, find the remaining numbers themselves and colour them in depending on their colours.
For example, number 1 was highlighted orange, 2 was highlighted green, 3 highlighted pink etc. So as a team the children all took turns using dot markers to highlight the rest of the plain numbers and use the colour code as a guide.

The second activity, involved hula hoops, animals, lego's, cubes, interstars and numbered papers. The three hula hoops was numbered and then depending on it’s number , for example 3, the children would have to then place either 3 lego's, animals, interstars or cubes in that specific hula hoop.

The children portrayed excellent team work, patience madness support. The activities prompted the children to count, identify and divide together, encouraging their skills.
