National Earth Day
On Tuesday we explored national Earth day!
We explored and learnt all about the earth, and focused on how we could help keep the planet safe and also the animals too!
Using the touch and tilt, we researched things people have been doing that are not so kind to our planet, and learnt that people have been throwing away rubbish into the sea which could harm our wonderful sea life creatures. We also learnt a little on global warming and forest fires which can start from global warming.
The children were saddened to learn of this and wanted to make sure they would all do their part to help the sea animals, by throwing their rubbish into the bins at all times!
To extend on their learning, I created a tuft tray full of jelly baff for the ocean, added sea creatures, and then incorporated “rubbish” such as plastic, paper and metal lids, and the children had to “save” the animals from all the rubbish. We used nets to help scoop out the rubbish and throw it into the “bin”, to ensure the animals wouldn’t eat the rubbish or become trapped inside it.
Everyone loved this activity and enjoyed saving the animals and also exploring the textures of the cold jelly baff!
