This week the children in baby room had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of stick insects, thanks to the preschool children who have been caring for one in their room. When the babies noticed the stick insect, they were intrigued and watched its movements very closely. captivated by how it blended into its enclosure. To extend their learning, we read the Stick Man story by Julia Donaldson, a fun story about a stick’s adventures, whilst exploring the stick man soft toys and real sticks to mimic an actual stick insect and pretending to feed them their favourite food….Leaves! This activity was a great way to explore nature, spark the children’s imaginations and to promote the babies ever growing love of stories and books.
