Planting (2)

This week, the toddlers had a wonderful opportunity to explore planting and growing their own cress. To make the activity even more engaging, we decided to experiment by using cotton buds instead of soil, allowing the children to observe how seeds can begin to grow in different conditions. Alongside this, we also tried planting our very own beanstalk, which the children were especially excited about.

Although the seeds did not grow as we had hoped in our initial setup, this became a valuable learning experience. We talked about what plants need to grow and why some environments work better than others. To continue our experiment, we transferred the seeds into the flower bed outdoors, where they will have more space, natural light, and nutrients. We are now looking forward to watching and caring for them as they (hopefully!) begin to grow.

The children took great responsibility in caring for the plants, using watering cans to gently water them and learning about the importance of looking after living things. This activity encouraged curiosity, patience, and hands-on learning, and we are excited to see how our planting journey develops in the coming days.
