Remembrance Day (5)

Remembrance Day

For Remembrance Day, the toddlers took part in a creative and meaningful art activity. The children painted their own poppies using red and black paint, exploring different ways to make marks with sponges and their fingertips. They enjoyed dabbing the sponges into the paint and pressing them onto the paper, watching the colours spread and create the poppy shapes. They then used their fingers, making small dots and smudges as they explored the texture and feel of the paint.
As they created their artwork, staff talked gently about poppies and why we see them at this time of year, introducing the children to simple ideas about remembrance in an age-appropriate way. The toddlers were proud of their finished poppies and enjoyed looking at each other’s creations.
