Shadow Puppets

This week in the toddler room, we explored shapes and shadows. We began by using stampers and moulds to create different pictures with paint. Once the paint had dried, we used scissors to cut out the shapes. The toddlers enjoyed making small snips with the scissors, helping to enhance and strengthen their fine motor skills.

Next, we used recycled cardboard tubes and attached our pictures to the top. We shone torches through the tubes and were amazed at the different shapes and pictures we could create.

We then extended the activity by using our hands and fingers, watching our shadows move and dance on the wall. The toddlers showed great curiosity and excitement as they experimented with light, movement, and shape.
