This week, we marked World Elephant Day across the nursery with activities inspired by these gentle giants! Our babies explored a role play-themed tuft tray, where they discovered what an elephant’s habitat might look and feel like. Through texture exploration and creating animal sounds, they engaged their senses and brought the world of elephants to life. In the toddler room, we celebrated by listening to one of our favourite Elmer stories. While enjoying the story, the children dipped crepe paper into water to create their own colourful patchwork elephants—just like Elmer himself! Our pre-schoolers joined in the creativity by designing their own patchwork elephants using recycled fabrics. This hands-on activity sparked lots of conversations about colours, patterns, and the importance of reusing materials to help the environment.
It’s been a joyful week of sensory exploration, storytelling, creativity, and learning all inspired by the incredible elephant!
