Beep Beep Day!

The grasshoppers really enjoyed celebrating Beep Beep day!  They began with a circle time, where they discussed how the children travel to nursery. They then read a short story which highlights the importance of road safety and encouraged the children to think about how we can keep safe. The children shared excellent ideas like: stopping, looking, listening, holding an adult’s hand, and waiting for a safe moment to cross.

Following this, the children headed to the car park for another engaging safety activity about being safe inside a car. We talked about why it’s important to wear seat belts when the car is moving and the need to sit down properly. The children had a great time role-playing this lesson by climbing into Courtney’s car to practise buckling their seat belts. Once our safety activities were done, the fun continued with the children enthusiastically helping to wash Courtney’s car! They enjoyed using sponges and soapy water to clean it, all while being mindful of each other and the space around them. They made sure to stay close to the car without washing over their friends. This activity also allowed them to use their large motor skills as they moved and washed the car with their whole bodies. Through play, storytelling, and hands-on experiences, the children explored important safety rules in a way that was both engaging and memorable.
