Sourdough Bread

The Grasshoppers have enjoyed a fun session making their own sourdough bread with Chelsea’s sourdough starter. Everyone took part in the process, which they found delightful. Some children scooped the sourdough starter into a bowl, while others poured in the water, mixed the ingredients, and added olive oil and flour. The Grasshoppers used scales to carefully measure all the ingredients required. After completing the initial steps of making the sourdough, the bread needed to prove for 30 minutes. Once this time was up, the Grasshoppers stretched and folded the dough before letting it rest again for an additional two hours. Once ready, they placed the bread in the oven to bake for 35 minutes. The following day, the Grasshoppers enjoyed a delicious breakfast with the bread they had created.
