This morning, our Butterflies class enjoyed a calm and creative exploration of spring through still life painting, inspired by daffodils. The children began by observing the flowers, taking time to notice the different shapes, textures, and shades of yellow and green. Working in pairs, they talked together about what they could see. This encouraged lots of lovely language, including descriptive words linked to colour, size, and detail. The children then used a range of painting techniques to create their own interpretations of the daffodils. Some children experimented with mixing colours to achieve the right shades, while others focused on the shapes of petals and stems, showing increasing control when using brushes and tools. Well done Butterflies!
