To celebrate Pie Week and World Book Day, the Stars had lots of fun making their very own ”gruffalo crumble”a tasty apple and cherry pie!). The children were excited to bring the story to life while helping prepare the ingredients.
Using their independence and fine motor skills”, the children carefully chopped the fruit with child-safe knives under supervision. They showed great focus and confidence while practising safe cutting techniques.
As they worked together, the children enjoyed chatting and sharing ideas, using their communication and language skills to talk about what they were adding to the pie. Many of them used their memory and story telling skills to retell parts of the story, giggling as they said things like, “I’m adding roasted fox!” just like in the tale.
This activity supported the children in developing their imagination, creativity, teamwork while also encouraging them to explore new tastes and experiences through cooking. It was a wonderful way to combine literacy, imagination and lots of Fun!
