Bubble Magic

This week, we introduced an exciting science activity designed to spark curiosity and wonder — creating giant bubbles large enough for the children to stand inside! Our goal was to promote early scientific thinking by exploring materials, cause and effect, and encouraging children to ask questions like, “What makes a bubble?” and “How can it be so big?”

Using a homemade bubble mixture and a large hoop, children took turns dipping the hoop and gently pulling it up to create giant bubbles around themselves or their friends. Adults supported the activity by modeling the process, asking open-ended questions, and introducing key vocabulary such as "surface tension," "mixture," and "solution." The children engaged with the experiment hands-on, taking turns, observing closely, and cheering each other on — all while developing fine motor skills and teamwork.

This playful science experience captured the children’s imaginations and supported several areas of learning, including Understanding the World, Communication and Language, and Personal, Social, and Emotional Development. Many children expressed awe and excitement, with one saying, “It feels like I’m in a bubble world!” The activity encouraged exploration, problem-solving, and confidence-building as they stepped inside their own bubbles — creating not only learning opportunities but lasting joyful memories.
