Today the Star’s took a nice long stroll down to the care home and when they arrived they made coconut ice as it is the resident’s favourite sweet treat. As September is Alzheimer's awareness month and on the 21st is Alzheimer’s day they made one blue and one white as these are the colours to support Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The children had many questions and they all asked “what is Alzheimers?” So Jackie explained to them that Alzheimer's is a brain problem that makes it hard for people to remember, think, and do daily tasks, and it gets worse over time. The star’s seemed really interested and one of them said “well we need to make them really yummy then”. The star’s really enjoyed the different textures and getting their hands very sticky! After all of their busy hard work they sat down and had some delicious biscuits and a choice of orange or apple juice. The star’s had so much fun and said they can’t wait to visit the care home again.
