Discovering Germs

The children took part in a fun and interactive learning experience focused on understanding germs and how easily they can spread. Through group discussion, we explored what germs are and identified everyday actions that can contribute to their spread, such as sneezing, coughing, touching objects, and playing closely with friends. The children were encouraged to share their ideas and demonstrated a growing awareness of how germs move from one person to another.

To bring this concept to life, we used a creative paint activity to represent germs. The children enthusiastically engaged in play, touching toys and interacting with one another, which visually demonstrated how quickly the “germs” (paint) transferred between surfaces and hands. This hands-on experience helped to reinforce their understanding in a meaningful and memorable way.

We also discussed the importance of good hygiene practices, particularly handwashing after sneezing, coughing, or touching shared items. The children showed great interest and curiosity throughout the activity and are beginning to understand how simple actions, like washing hands, can help keep themselves and others healthy.
