The ponies took a trip to the forest to go on a Mini beast hunt and look for all different types of insects, we started by walking far into the forest meanwhile having discussions of what we might find. The ponies listed many insects such as ants, woodlice, spiders, catapillers, centipedes and flies. We began by looking for logs that we could turn over to see if there was anything living under them. The ponies each got their magnifying glasses out and used them to get a better look, once they found an incest they attempted to capture them in our little bug pots so we could take them back to nursery and observe them, we managed to collect 5 different spiders!
When we arrived back at nursery we observed them and we had lots of different conversations about the similarities and differences between each spider. The ponies mentioned the different sizes, the different shapes, the different colours even the different type of places we found them in !! They also said about how each spider was similar as they all had 8 legs, they are all spiders and they all lived in the forest.
Also while we was out the ponies collected some sticks to bring back to nursery for our investigation area so we can use them during fun activities. Well done ponies.
