Today the Ponies took a trip to the forest and made their own nature paints. They scavenged and found a range of different things that they wanted to make into paint, including mud, sticks, leaves and flowers. Unfortunately there wasn’t many berries or other colourful nature to create paint with this time but the children learnt to be resourceful with what was available and still managed to make a green and brown paint. They were curious and asked about different plants, learning and understanding them plants like holly and stinging nettles could hurt them so they were extra careful when they recognised those plants in the forest. They used their fine motor skills to crush the natural materials in a pestle and mortar, and although the paints didn’t come out very pigmented they did enjoy noticing how the paper changed colour with the water brush strokes.
