In January, all of our children will be receiving a brand-new book bag featuring our preschool logo. While it may seem like a small addition, book bags play an important role in supporting children’s independence, confidence, and readiness for school.

Having their own named book bag helps children take responsibility for their belongings and feel a sense of pride and ownership. It encourages them to care for their items, practise routine skills such as packing and unpacking, and develop independence — all key skills needed as they prepare for the transition to school.

Book bags also support early literacy by providing a special place for books, drawings, and learning to travel safely between preschool and home. This helps strengthen the link between learning at preschool and sharing those experiences with families at home.

As children grow and prepare for school, these small routines help build confidence, organisation skills, and excitement about learning. We hope our new book bags will be a practical and meaningful part of your child’s preschool journey and a positive step towards school readiness.
