Today, the children have been exploring the inside of a pumpkin. They have been playing with the pumpkins in various ways all week and asked if we could cut the pumpkin open and have a look what’s inside. We carefully cut the pumpkin open as all of the children were excitedly looking to see what the inside would be like, they recognised that the knife was sharp and knew to step away and keep their hands to themselves while Holly cut the pumpkin.
After opening up the pumpkins, the children were excited to have a look inside and explored using their senses to feel, look and smell the pumpkin. They used many describing words such as a stringy, disgusting, smelly, crunchy and hard during their exploration. Some of the children even enjoyed trying to puzzle the pumpkins back together, placing all the pieces as they were cut back together.
