The stars children took part in a exciting risky play activity this morning. Before doing the activity, we spoke to the children about safety. Pins can be dangerous and hurt us and so can hammers, we must be super careful and we must only use this when a adult is with us.
The activity sparked conversation about safety while also focused on their fine motor skills as we hammered the pins into the cork board.
We then added some loom bands, this encouraged the children to challenge their fine motor skills as they used pincer grip to stretched the bands across the pins.
If the children were confident to stretch the bands across the pins, we extended this by encouraging the children to use the pins and the bands to create shapes. The children discovered they could make triangles, squares and rectangles.
They was all super excited with their creations and super proud they was safe while doing so.
