This Afternoon we took the star’s out on a road safety trip. We spoke about the importance of being safe when walking on/ crossing roads. We learned that roads can be busy places, so it’s important to stay close to a grown-up at all times. The children practiced stopping at the edge of the road and looking both ways, and listening before crossing. We also crossed using traffic lights and discussed what the colours mean to help them remember that red means stop, yellow means get ready, and green means go. The children also learned that we always hold an adults hand near cars and never run or play close to the road. After this we taught them what a pedestrian crossing is and told them they needed to press the button and wait for the green man to show and beep. The star’s did really well at understanding the importance of road safety so we took a detour and went to the park before heading back to nursery. They had so much fun, well done star’s.
