Science Week with Stars

Science Week has been full of exciting experiments and curious little scientists in the Stars group. Throughout the week, the children had the opportunity to take part in a variety of fun and engaging science activities, including glow-in-the-dark water, disco worms, sink or float, rainbow milk, making volcanoes, recreating the rain cycle, creating a lava lamp and even building a bubble machine. The Stars really enjoyed making predictions about what they thought would happen during the experiments and watching the results unfold. We also had a short group discussion about what science is, explaining that science is about being curious and learning about the world around us by asking questions like “why?” and “how?”. Using simple everyday examples such as rain falling from the sky and plants growing from tiny seeds, the children shared their ideas and observations while beginning to understand how things work. They learned that scientists try things out and watch what happens, just like when we explored which objects sink or float in water. The children were very engaged, showed lots of curiosity and loved becoming little scientists for the week. Science Week has been a wonderful opportunity for them to explore, experiment and discover, and they have been very excited to see what each new day’s experiment would bring.
